I
was born in 1928 the youngest of ten children. I am the product of the
Christian School System in Grand Rapids, Michigan and a life-long member
of the Christian Reformed Church. I graduated from Calvin College in 1951
and from Calvin Seminary in 1954.
In 1952 I married Betty Ann DeYoung of Muskegon
and we are blessed with three boys and three girls. We rejoice in the
fact that all have married Christian spouses and we have thirteen grandchildren.
I served as pastor in the
Atwood, Michigan; Eastmanville, Michigan; Portage, Michigan and Evergreen
Park, Illinois Christian Reformed Churches. I have been retired from
active ministry since 1993.
Quite a few pastors have organized
their library materials using Baker’s Textual and Topical
Filing System. I devised this system and used it to organize my
library. In 1961 Baker Book House published it. My good wife and other
colleagues, especially the Rev. Winston C. Boelkins enabled my book,
Unconditional Good News, to be published by Eerdmans Publishing
Co. in 1980. Three other books regarding the plan of salvation What’s
Good About the Good News? (1988); So Also In Christ
(2002) and A Theology of Inclusivism (2008) were published by Northland Books.
Betty and I have been richly
blessed with good health. I am grateful for the time I have available
to respond to questions regarding God’s amazing grace as revealed
in the Scriptures and experienced in our lives.
